When it feels this good outside, you Yoga outside.

This summer has been one of the hottest summers in a long time. The weatherman called for strong storms Friday night. My family had planned to go to an old fashioned Friday night gospel singing with my grandmother. Several suggested we spend the night with my mom and dad because the line of storms planned to hit during the timeline we would be driving home. God spared us from the storms, and we had a great time.
The next morning, I woke up to a fabulous morning. Temps were in the upper sixties. My mom was cooking breakfast, and I decided to get a workout in first thing. I went out to the back porch where my dad was swinging. He and I sat and talked about life, and then he went inside so I could do yoga. I saw God in the intricate details of the hummingbirds, I could hear him through the rustling of the trees, and I could feel him as the wind came over me to give me peace.
It’s an ideal Mayberry scene with gospel singing, dinner with the grandmother, porch swinging, Momma cooking breakfast, and the kids playing in the field. I cherish these moments because I know they’re only for a season. Mayberry had its share of problems, but the town got a lot of things right-starting with its simple atmosphere to concentrate on the important life lessons.
It’s true that my Jesus knows exactly what I need when I need it. The school year is about to kick up and I’ve been all kinds of anxious, nervous, and stressed. I’ve also looked at a lot of different aspects of life over this summer. This moment on the porch was my reminder that all of that stuff doesn’t matter. What matters is that I can still hear, see, and feel God, and know that he holds my future in His hands.
Psalms 46:10 “Be Still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”
Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you ‘Do not fear; I will help you.'”
Psalms 96:11-12 “Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.”
